A few years back I did a 60 day run without eating junk food of any sort. I felt pretty good. Well, this week, I was VERY bad. I’ve had candy bars, soda, pies…and I plan to continue until the holidays are over. Then we’ll talk about no sugar again…

In the meantime, though, I bought soda that was very high in sugar. I was awake until three in the morning, woke up at 8:00 and didn’t take a nap the next day, feeling horrible the whole time.

After reading the amount of sugar in a large movie theater soda, I thought back to the amount on the specialty soda I bought. It was about the same amount. And I got to thinking. How much is 44 teaspoons of sugar after all…is it really that much? Well, hold onto your hats. I’ve got pictures…

This is my favorite brand of soda and has 42 grams of sugar. I love sugar…but it’s good to know what you’re eating (and why you’re not sleeping or why your kids might be cranky the day after a soda binge).

As a side note, I am not one of those people who believe health should be legislated. No one can tell me whether or not to drink a Vanilla soda. I believe in making an informed decision on my own…
